About us
Twelve years in the same villages.
Schooling, healthcare and livelihoods for families in 120 villages of Darbhanga, Bihar.
Our story
It started with an evening class.
In 2014 Mr. Faishal retired after 18 years of teaching in government schools in Darbhanga. He had watched too many bright children leave school by Class 8. So he opened an evening class in a rented room in Benipur, with forty children and one blackboard.
Mothers who came to collect their children began asking about work, and about the nearest doctor. The health camps started in 2016 and the women's groups in 2017. The tree-planting programme started in 2019, when those groups asked for paid work near home.
Today Radiant works in 120 villages with 60 field staff and more than 300 volunteers. It still runs on the same idea: stay in one place, listen, and count what lasts.

Vision
A village where every child finishes school, every family can see a doctor, and every woman earns her own income.
Mission
To work alongside rural communities in Darbhanga, Bihar on education, health, livelihoods and the environment, and to report the results openly.
What we hold to
Four principles.
Local people, local leadership
Nine out of ten field staff live in the villages they serve. Programmes are planned with the gram panchayat, not for it.
Measure what lasts
We count children who pass Class 10, not enrolment forms. We count trees still alive after three years, not saplings on planting day.
Open books
Audited accounts, annual reports and registrations are published every year. Any donor can ask how their money was spent.
Stay for the long term
We have not left a village since 2014. Change in schooling, health and income takes years, and we plan for that.
